Our young people come from different cultures, nationalities and backgrounds, so our activities help them build relationships, recognise shared values and respect their differences. We use real life examples to explore the topics related to keeping peace in the world.
Throught debates, group discussions, role-play and Model United Nations activities we explore conflict, migration, discrimination, human rights and global inequality. Young people learn how to research reliable information, separate facts from opinions, explain their views and listen to others. They practise disagreeing respectfully and finding solutions through dialogue rather than hostility.
Games, teamwork and creative workshops help participants develop trust, empathy, communication and conflict-resolution skills. We create clear group rules so everyone can speak safely and no person is excluded because of their culture, language, ability, religion, identity or financial situation.
We explore different perspectives, challenge stereotypes and see how global events affect real people and communities. Young people are also encouraged to lead discussions and deliver their own workshops about peace, inclusion and issues that matter to them.
For us, peace education begins locally. It means helping young people feel welcome in Balbriggan, giving them a voice and teaching them how to respond to prejudice, misinformation and conflict. These everyday skills prepare them to become responsible community members and active global citizens.
